MID-TERRACE HOUSE, SEVENOAKS
This project was a mid-terraced house in Sevenoaks, which had not been altered in about 55 years and the previous owner had let it run into disrepair. We did a loft conversion which added a 3rd bedroom with an ensuite shower room. We also did a double storey rear extension to our property and the neighbours. (We did all the work for the neighbour including some internal refurbishment such as 2 new bathrooms, a new kitchen and new floors throughout).
We installed as much insulation as we could in the property as well as new block and beam floor throughout the ground floor to allow it to be fully insulated and the addition of underfloor heating. We insulated the existing solid brick walls by lining them with thermaline plasterboard. In the new loft conversion we installed over 200mm insulation in the walls and over 250mm in the roof.
On this project we fit 6 solar panels on the roofs, which were supplied and installed by The Little Green Energy Company. The combination of the new double glazed aluminium windows and doors, solar panels and insulation allowed us to achieve an EPC rating of B on this project, which is something we are very proud of!
The only bricks that we purchased from this project were the red capping bricks on the garden wall. All the bricks used were saved from knocked down walls and this included the bricks used in the garden wall. We also re-used the existing roof tiles after redoing the roof structure.
