SEMI-DETACHED HOMES, SEVENOAKS
This project began with the purchase of a run down bungalow on a large, under-utilised and overgrown plot. The bungalow was in a bad way and had a lot of subsidence. We demolished the bungalow and crushed it on site to use for aggregate under patios and driveway.
We used Kingspan's TEK system for the build and this was erected by one of their delivery partners. The TEK system uses structural insulated panels to for the external walls and roof. This allows for an extremely efficient building without having thick walls which would reduce the internal room sizes. We were very pleased the product but would have preferred to erect it ourselves as we had some issues with the delivery partner. While the main houses were being erected, we focused on the outbuilding for the larger plot and this was a heavily insulated timber frame construction. We installed a shower room and kitchenette in there and we also ran cables for wifi and TV as well as an alarm system and camera.
Other unique and sustainable features that we incorporated into this project were the use of Envirobuild's recylced plastic cladding, aluminium clad timber frame triple glazed windows and car chargers. Natural slate was used for the roof after our inital desire to use recycled rubber slate effect tiles was refused by the local council. We used RM Design for the interior design and room layouts of the property.
