BUNGALOW, HILLINGDON AVENUE
This project was a run down bungalow we purchased so we could bring it back to life to create a nice modern home. We stripped the building back completely as well as the driveway and the patio, which had all been constructed very poorly. We reduced our waste creation by reusing things such as an old chimney stack and the old driveway for aggregate. We also salvaged all the exisiting paving slabs and after cleaning they were re-used for the new patio. We replaced any of the exisiting floor joists that had started rotting and we also insulated in all of the floors and internal partitions to improve the thermal and acoustic efficiencies.
The potential market value of this house was quite low so we did not use any extravagent fixtures or fittings and we also did not do an extension that would negatively impact on surrounding properties. We are pleased with what we have created and that we have contributed to improving what we believe is an up and coming part of town. This property has a large south facing garden and off street parking for several cars.
